1) Kara asks: Do You use 100% genuine black tourmaline for your bracelets?
Hi Kara,
Yes, the Black Tourmaline Crystal / Gemstone beads are all 100% Genuine Natural Crystals. We're one of very few approved vendors to sell Natural Gemstone Crystals in the Jewelry Category on Amazon & eBay. This approval required that I send Amazon samples of our products to have third-party tested and certified and they all passed with flying colors.
We only sell natural crystal products with only a couple of Metaphysician approved man-made ones like Opalite.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve you. It is truly an honor I hold in high regard.

2) Kara asks: How do you make bracelets from Natural Black Tourmaline? Is it too fragile as a crystal to make beads?
Black Tourmaline is a very fragile stone. I wonder how are you able to make it as a bracelet and keep it from breaking. On the pic, it just looks a black stone with shine on it.
Hi Kara,
Minerals / Gemstone crystals come in two types basically.
1) True crystals like you see sold as individuals points. Black Tourmaline (Schorl is the mineral name) typically has a triagonal crystal shape, but depending on the location that they grew naturally can actually have several different shapes.
For example, Black Tourmaline Crystals that grew naturally in Brazil will most often be long points with 8 natural faceted sides, from Pakistan they have three facets, and in Madagascar they often have some variation of three to eight all on one crystal. It's cool really how they naturally grow differently depending on which part of Mother Earth they are growing on.
2) Amorphous mineral formations. There is not true crystal formation in these deposits and are usually a very large deposit with no true crystalline structure.
As defined by Wikipedia: In condensed matter physics and materials science, an amorphous or non-crystalline solid is a solid that lacks the long-range order that is characteristic of a crystal. In some older books, the term has been used synonymously with glass.
For our Black Tourmaline and many other bracelets and pendants, we buy Black Tourmaline Rough that is large chunks of Amorphous Black Tourmaline. We then hand-cut them to beads size, drill holes into them for beading with a Diamond Drill Bit, and then tumble polish them to a beautiful finish. It usually takes 5 tumbling polshing sessions (several days an multiple changes of the polishing grit) for Black Tourmaline to get to finished beads ready for beading. Which is why Black Tourmaline Beads, Pendants, etc cost so much.
